Japanese stocks hit highest since quake disaster

Japanese stocks rebounded Friday, with the Nikkei index rising to its highest closing since the earthquake-tsunami disaster triggered its sharp fall nearly a month ago.
The benchmark 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average closed at 9,768.08, advancing 177.15 points, or 1.85 percent, from Thursday.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 12.03 points, or 1.43 percent, to 853. 13.
On the First Section, rising stocks outnumbered declining ones 1,357 to 224, with 90 others remaining unchanged.
Trading volume on the main section rose to 2,792.34 million shares from Thursday's 2,228.20 million.
