The Boston Red Sox may still be looking for the team's first victory --- but at least they have an official party story.

The Sox today announced a two-year sponsorship agreement that makes iParty Corp. the “official party store” of the Boston Red Sox. Dedham-based iParty is a party goods retailer that operates 53 iParty retail stores.

In a statement, iParty chief executive Sal Perisano said: "This agreement allows us to use Wally the Green Monster in our television advertising and other marketing efforts. Wally has a wonderful appeal to children and kids are, of course, very important to our business. The Red Sox are a universal brand that appeals to all age groups and genders. It is a great affiliation for us.” (Wally is shown at left in a Globe file photo.)

IParty added that it has also signed an agreement with the Pawtucket Red Sox to sponsor the team’s Birthday Party Program as well as the Kids Zone at McCoy Stadium.

Halloween is a big holiday for iParty. At the moment, it's hard for local baseball fans to think of anything scarier or spookier than the start of this Red Sox season.
