A Sino-US crash will bring Asia-Pacific region into total mess

On June 25, the first China-US Asia-Pacific affairs consultation will be held in Honolulu, Hawali.
By the time, two sides will exchange opinions on the general situation in Asia-Pacific, each other's Asia-Pacific policies and the regional issues of common concern. The Chinese side expects to achieve positive outcomes of the first consultation so that we can strengthen the bilateral communications on Asia-Pacific affairs, enhance mutual understanding, expand pragmatic cooperation, handle differences properly, promote peace, stability and development in Asia-Pacific jointly and push forward the development of China-US cooperative partnership constantly.
Honolulu, was just the place where Mr. Sun Yat-sen established China's earlies revolutionary community and fired up the flame of Chinese revolutions more than 100 years ago. So the choice of the place indicates that China and U.S. would like to get close with each other and strengthen the mutual cooperation.
Current world situation is not quiet since many countries haven't gone out of the financial crisis, upheavals in Middle East and North Africa and some natural disasters.
Compared with other regions, Asia-Pacific in general is stable. It has sound economic development and is growing into a critical engine for the growth of world economy. Cooperation within the region is thriving and Asia-Pacific is playing an increasing role in the world. The world is paying more attention to Asia-Pacific, remains optimistic about the region's future development and is scaling up investment in the region.
Therefore, Asia-Pacific people may need a stable regional environment than ever although the hints of disorder had been exposed. That's why U.S. and China, as two most powerful and influential countries in the region, would like to sit down together and consulate the regional affairs.
China-US relations have entered into the new stage of cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and mutual benefit since President Hu visited the US. The two sides have successfully held the second round of high-level consultation on cultural exchanges and the third round of strategic and economic dialogue over the past several months, deepened cooperation in a wide range of bilateral areas and kept coordination on major regional and international issues. Of course, China and the US still have problems related with Taiwan, Tibet, trade and economy and human rights which require to be handled appropriately.
To maintain the healthy and stable development of China-US relations is beneficial to both countries and to the world as well. The two sides should jointly implement the outcome of President Hu's visit to the US and boost the development of China-US cooperative partnership. The bilateral relations face key development opportunities in the next stage. Leaders of both countries will have opportunities to meet on some important multilateral occasions and there will be some important high-level exchanges between the two sides. We must ensure the success of those meetings and exchanges.
The two sides should continue with dialogue at various levels and enhance strategic mutual trust continuously. China and the US have common interest in a wide range of areas. Both sides should step up cooperation in the bilateral, multilateral and global areas and handle differences and sensitive issues appropriately in the principle of equality and mutual respect. Efforts should also be made to encourage the communications and exchanges between the two peoples in order to reinforce the social and public opinion foundation of China-US relations.
Of course, China and U.S. cannot stay in the same line for everything, but that's nothing to be afraid of, and the key is how to manage the differences between two countries and how to ease the conflicts through dialogue.
