1740's Liquor Barrel Stand

This is a rare stand for a liquor / spirits barrel made by Meissen in the 1740's. It is superbly made with three putti - one on each leg, lots of fancy molding work, a yellow ground color and three cartouches with merchant scenes in them. It doesn't get much better than this except if you had the barrel as well. And you can find the barrels alone but not the stand so if you ahve the lonely barrel here is your stand! I took lots of pictures to show all the detail since it is a bit much to describe. One putto is holding what looks like a coffee grinder which is kind of neat. The stand is in great condition with a small restored chip to the top edge, the girl puttohas a paint flake on the back of her, a missing pinky on her right hand and a missing right foot and lastly the other putto has a missing left arm and some damage in his lap and I do believe he was broken off the stand and/or in half and restored. The restoration work is quite good! Even with this little bit of damage I think it displays very well and is quite rare to say the least. It is rather large being 9 inches tall and 9.5 inches from foot to foot. The piece is unmarked but certainly Meissen from this period. It is not uncommon for pieces to be unmarked during the early days of Meissen! Please email me for more information or other pictures. Price is $3999
