QQ Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann will arrive in Beijing for a state visit to China from Wednesday to Friday at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Premier Wen Jiabao.Faymann was born in the Austrian capital of Vienna on May 4, 1960. In his youth, he was a consultant at the Bank Austria, which he left to kick off his political career by heading the housing and planning council of Vienna and the city's tenants association.
He became provincial chairman of Vienna's Young Socialists in 1985. In 1994, he was elected to the Viennese state parliament and municipal council, where he was in charge of housing, housing construction and urban renewal.
In January 2007, Faymann was appointed Federal Minister for Transport, Innovation and Technology in the Cabinet of Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer, whom Faymann replaced in June 2008 to be chairman of the Social Democratic Party. He assumed office as chancellor in December 2008 and has headed the coalition formed by his party and the conservative People's Party for more than two years.
In May 2010, he attended the celebration during the National Pavilion Day of Austria at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.X Faymann is married and has two daughters.
