美国自由女神像基石上的诗
不同于那座希腊著名的黄铜巨人----
脚跨列土、有不可一世之尊，
而在这里，在我们这个饱经大海洗礼的日落之门，
一位伟大的女神将挺然屹立----
她手执火炬、光芒迸发犹如被囚禁的闪电；
她是“流亡者之母”，
她用照亮黑夜的手，发出向全世界的召唤，
他用温和静谧的眼神，把辉映双城的港湾俯瞰；
“古老的大地，让那载入史册的荣耀永葆灿烂吧！”
默默地，她呐喊，
“来吧，“
你那疲惫不堪、贫穷潦倒的人们，
你那相依为命、渴望自由生存的人们，
你那喧嚣的港湾里无处容身、悲惨不幸的人们；
“来吧，
所有流离失所、颠簸奔命的人们，
我高举光明、为你守候这金色之门！”
