Four people are missing after flash floods washed away three trucks Sunday in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the local government said Monday.

The accident happened at 5 p.m. in a small town in Toksun County of Turpan Prefecture, 250 km from the regional capital Urumqi.

The three trucks belong to an industrial explosive company in Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture of Bayingolin.

More than 100 people have joined the rescue.

Rain-triggered floods battered parts of the far western Chinese region late last week.

On Friday, mountain torrents swept into a construction site in Hejing County of Bayingolin, trapping 62 people. One of them remained missing Monday and the other 61 were saved over the weekend.

The downpour also triggered mudslides early Saturday in Hejing County, trapping 37 tourists. Three of whom have been confirmed dead while the other 34 had been saved.
