文艺青年必看：全球十大最佳书店(组图)

　　英国《卫报》记者肖恩·多德森撰写了《顶级书架》一文，盘点了他心目中的全球10佳书店。你心中的十佳书店又是什么呢？

　　TOP 1：Boekhandel Selexyz Dominicanen in Maastricht

　　What does a city do with an 800-year-old church with nocongregation? Well, it could make like the Dutch and convert it into atemple of books. The old Dominican church in Maastricht was being usedfor bicycle storage not long ago, but thanks to a radical refurbishmentby Dutch architects Merkx·Girod it has been turned into what couldpossibly be the most beautiful bookshop of all time。

　　在一间拥有800年历史的古教堂里读书是什么感觉？不久前，荷兰马斯特里赫特市的多米尼加教堂还是一个供人们存放自行车的地方。荷兰建筑师默克斯·吉罗德给这座废弃的教堂带来了惊人变化，他把教堂改造成了一家书店。

　　The Boekhandel Selexyz Dominicanen, which opened just beforeChristmas, retains the character and charm of the old church, whilebeing fitted with a minimalist and modern interior design that overcomesany suggestion of fustiness. From the images you can find on the webyou can see that it is a bookshop made in heaven. 

　　书店2007年圣诞节前刚刚开张。吉罗德尽量保留原有建筑风貌，只在内部装饰上作了些许变动，添加了一些现代元素，令整座教堂焕然一新。在一排排书架间穿行，头顶上方是高大、美丽的教堂穹顶，难怪有人把这里称为“天堂书店”。

　　TOP 2：El Ateneo in Buenos Aires

　　All the world's a page at El Ateneo, a bookshop converted from anold theatre in downtown Buenos Aires. As you can see from thisphotomontage the El Ateneo has retained its former splendour, with highpainted ceiling, original balconies and ornate carvings intact。

　　这是由布宜诺斯艾利斯闹市一家老剧院改造成的豪华书店。书店共3层，营业面积2000多平方米，号称南美第一。

　　Even the crimson stage curtains remain part of the show. Comfychairs are scattered throughout, the stage is utilised as a reading areaand café, and even better, the former theatre boxes are used as tinyreading rooms。

　　剧院内原有包厢、雕刻、戏台上的深红色幕布均保存完好，只是戏台变成了供读者休息的地方，你可以上去吃点心，也可闲坐读书。包厢则变成了一个个“迷你”阅览室。

　　TOP 3：Livraria Lello in Porto

　　Proving that purpose-built bookshops can be every bit as beautifulas converted buildings, the divine Livraria Lello in Porto has beenselling books in the most salubrious of settings since 1881.

　　与前两家不同，莱罗书店生来就是一家书店，开张于1881年。

　　Featuring a staircase to heaven and beautifully intricate woodenpanels and columns (see for yourself with these gorgeous 360-degreeviews)，stained glass ceilings and books - lots of lovely books。

　　TOP 4：Secret Headquarters comic bookstore in Los Angeles

　　A mere profiterole to the fabulous layer cakes of Porto and BuenosAires, but the Secret Headquarters more than holds its own. Nestled inthe creative cluster of Silver Lake, just east of Hollywood, thisboutique store offers a sophisticated alternative to most of its rivals。

　　这家店名叫“秘密总部”，坐落在好莱坞以东一群创意小铺中间。如果说莱罗书店像一个富有层次感的蛋糕，“秘密总部”则像一块可爱的甜饼。它有其他创意书店无可比拟之处：专卖卡通书。

　　This boutique store has a reputation for being one of the neatest,friendliest comic stores anywhere. Canadian science fiction author CoryDoctorow rates it as the finest in the world。

TOP 5：Borders in Glasgow

　　The might of the Michigan-based megastore may make a lot ofindependent booksellers fearful, but few book lovers can fail to bebeguiled by the neo-classical architecture of its behemoth Glasgowbranch。

　　Originally designed by Archibald Elliot in 1827 for the Royal Bank,Borders has occupied a prime spot on Royal Exchange Square since themillennium and won over many of the city's book lovers. People readingon the steps outside have become as much a feature of Glasgow as thetraffic cone on the head of Wellington's statue。

　　TOP 6：Scarthin's in the Peak District 

　　Of course, others might prefer the altogether more earthy beauty ofa shop like Scarthin Books in the Peak District. Scarthin's has beenselling new and second-hand books since the mid-1970s。

　　Located in a dear old house near St Magdalen's church in Brussels,Posada Books is as famous for its pretty interior as it is for itscollection of new and second-hand art books. Has a remarkable collectionof exhibition catalogues, which goes back to the beginning of the lastcentury, and holds occasional exhibitions too.

TOP 8：El Péndulo in Mexico

　　The Polanco branch of Pendulo in Mexico City has long been known asone of the best ways to beat the heat in the largest city in the world。

　　Although it only has a small English language section, its openarchitecture populated with several trees makes for an excellentafternoon's escape. In honesty, as popular for its excellent cafe as itis its books。

　　TOP 9：Keibunsya in Kyoto

　　If you love bookshops even where you can't read the language, thenKeibunsya in Kyoto needs to be on your list too. Some say it's thelighting, others the well-proportioned panels around the walls. Orperhaps it's the little galleries embedded in the bookshelves。

　　Most agree it's just the quiet dignity of the place that's hard tobeat. Lots of pretty Japanese art books to marvel at and a few Englishlanguage ones as well。

　　TOP 10：Hatchards in London

　　Although the bookshop of Cambridge University is technically theoldest bookshop in Britain, Hatchards of Piccadilly, which has beentrading since 1797, is definitely the most aristocratic。

　　位于皮卡迪利广场的哈查兹书店堪称英国最有年头的贵族书店。它诞生于1797年，是英国女王的书籍供应商。

　　Not only does it boast three royal warrants, meaning it suppliesbooks to Her Majesty, it has counted Disraeli, Wilde and Byron among itsregulars. Today it retains the spirit of days past, with an interiordescribed by one follower as "reminiscent of being inside a rambling oldhouse, with six floors of small rooms all linked together curlingaround a central staircase."
