TAIYUAN, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) He Guoqiang has reiterated the government's call for the coal-rich province of Shanxi to diversify away from being so reliant on its resource-based economy.
He, a Standing Committee member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, made the remark during a five-day study tour of the northern province that concluded Tuesday.
He called on local officials and residents to step up the development-oriented transformation of the province's resource-based economy.
The official, who is also head of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, urged them to promote traditional values of revolutionary forerunners and to unswervingly push forward China's socialist construction.
He stressed efforts to develop those projects of public welfare and improve social management and public service systems for people's good, and urged construction of a clean and honest government and selection of righteous personnel for officials' positions.
