英文自传是应聘外资公司时又一道必不可少的程序。 它是指求职者自述本人生平经历的书面材料，也是对求职者个人简历的一种补充。

 

自传的写作内容除姓名，性别，年龄，出生地，家庭情况，学历之外，工作经历，工作业绩，科研成果，求职目的，奖惩情况等内容尤为重要。

自传的内容决定了它可以带有一些个人化的语言和充满感情的表述，与公事公办的简历，求职信不尽相同，因此往往大型的外国公司和机构非常看重。 申请出国留学时，自传（personal statement）的质量和内容也是成功的关键。

撰写英文自传时，不要一味说空话套话，有时一个日常生活中的小例子远胜于长篇累牍的流水帐。 还要特别注意：既不能自吹自擂，也不必过于谦虚，应该本着实事求是，不卑不亢的原则。

Personal Statement/Autobiography

Myname is Fang Yan. I am 24 years old and male. I was born in Taiyuan,Shanxi Province. There are three people in my family including me, and Iam the only son.

My father is an electronic engineer and mymother is a teacher of English. I completed elementary, junior andsenior high school in Taiyuan. In 1993, I entered Shanghai JiaotongUniversity and graduated in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in computerscience. Since then I have been working as a computer programmer inShanghai Wanda Company.

Influenced by my father, I've beeninterested in electronics since I was quite young. I love breaking downand reassembling little gadgets in spare time as well. I still rememberthat I made a portable transistor radio by myself in junior high school.And I made it a part-time job repairing TV sets and radios forneighbours in senior high.

Since childhood, I've been taught by myparents to make friends with people around and always keep good mannersin public. Besides, I learn the importance of helping people out whenthey need it most by doing my part-time job.

Besides, I like sports very much and I am physically well.

Ofcourse I do admit that I have some shortcomings. I can be shy whenspeaking in the presence of large crowds of people. Sometimes I amhesitant in making quick decisions. But I'm sure I will be able toovercome them.

Now I'm applying for a position in your company. Ibelieve a whole new working environment will surely provide betterchances for me to build up future career and personal characters.
